Psychiatry of Greenville

About Us

Psychiatry of Greenville is an outpatient psychiatry practice serving adults and adolescents in Greenville, South Carolina. We believe psychiatric care should be personal, thoughtful, and accessible — and that every patient deserves to be treated as a whole person rather than a diagnosis or a collection of symptoms.

Our Approach

We recognize that seeking psychiatric care can feel overwhelming, and that establishing care with a psychiatrist often takes far longer than it should. That is why we prioritize accessibility and work diligently to help new patients establish care as quickly as possible. When someone reaches out for help, they deserve timely access to compassionate, expert treatment.

Our care is rooted in evidence-based psychiatry: carefully evaluating each patient’s needs and using the right treatment, at the right time, for the right reasons. When medication is indicated, we believe in thoughtful prescribing — using the lowest effective dose and keeping treatment as simple as possible. Rather than continually adding medications, we focus on understanding the underlying issues, monitoring progress closely, and prescribing only what is truly helpful.

We combine the latest advances in psychiatric treatment with the wisdom of time-tested clinical practice. Mental health care is constantly evolving, and we remain committed to staying current with modern treatment approaches while never losing sight of the fundamental importance of listening, understanding, and building meaningful therapeutic relationships.

Most importantly, we strive to meet patients where they are. Every individual’s story, goals, and challenges are different. Whether you are seeking help for anxiety, depression, ADHD, mood disorders, life transitions, or other mental health concerns, our goal is to build a treatment plan tailored specifically to you.

Meet Our Physicians

Jacob Kaiser, MD

Dr. Jacob Kaiser is a native South Carolinian who earned his medical degree at the University of South Carolina School of Medicine in Columbia and completed his psychiatry residency through the University of South Carolina–Prisma Health in Greer.

He previously served as Medical Director of the Prisma Center for Psychiatry, where he cared for patients while teaching and supervising resident physicians in psychodynamic and integrative psychotherapy, perinatal psychiatry, and addiction psychiatry. He has also served as a Clinical Instructor with the USC School of Medicine Greenville, directing the Medical Humanities course.

Dr. Kaiser believes exceptional psychiatric care begins with taking the time to truly listen, and he approaches every visit with humility, curiosity, and respect.

Aaron Dedmon, MD

Dr. Aaron Dedmon is a board-certified psychiatrist who believes meaningful psychiatric care begins with understanding the person behind the symptoms — viewing concerns such as anxiety, depression, insomnia, and life stressors within the broader context of each person’s relationships, strengths, and goals.

He completed his psychiatry residency at Prisma Health’s Greer Psychiatry Residency Program, where he served as Chief Resident, and later joined Prisma Health as an attending psychiatrist and Clinical Assistant Professor with the University of South Carolina School of Medicine Greenville.

Dr. Dedmon has pursued additional training in Transcranial Magnetic Stimulation (TMS) and Electroconvulsive Therapy (ECT), and has extensive experience treating individuals with treatment-resistant depression and other complex psychiatric conditions.

When Care May Be Better Provided Elsewhere

Our goal is to provide safe, effective, and individualized psychiatric care tailored to each patient’s needs. We also recognize that certain conditions are best managed through specialized programs, higher levels of care, or settings that provide more intensive support. Our services may not be the best fit for individuals who:

  • Are under the age of 14
  • Have advanced dementia or require specialized memory care services
  • Are seeking treatment primarily for opioid use disorder, which is often best supported through specialized addiction treatment programs

If you are unsure whether our services are the right fit for your needs, please contact us. We are happy to discuss your situation and help guide you toward the most appropriate resources and level of care.

Ready to take the first step?

New patients can request an initial evaluation online, and we work to schedule new evaluations as promptly as possible. If you have questions about whether we are the right fit, we are glad to talk it through first.
